Not every cyberattack begins with a technical vulnerability. Sometimes, a seemingly ordinary request for a password, sensitive information, money, or a small favor is all it takes.

Social engineering exploits our trust, willingness to help, and established habits, and is one of the key tools used by cyber attackers. We encounter it in phishing emails, phone calls, fraudulent messages, and even in everyday communication in the workplace.

In this lecture, we’ll demonstrate how attackers use these techniques to gain access to accounts and information, how to recognize the most common manipulation tactics, and how to effectively defend against them.

The lecture will be led by Ing. Aleš Padrta, Ph.D., who works at the CESNET association, where he heads the Forensic Laboratory (FLAB). He has long been involved in cybersecurity, security incident analysis, and digital forensics. He is a graduate of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen with a degree in cybernetics and also shares his expertise through professional training programs in the field of cybersecurity.
